The company's Insurance, Pension Plans and Capitalization Bonds segment offers various products and services, including life, personal accident, health, automobiles, property and casualty, and liability insurances; individual and corporate pension plans; defined benefit plans; variable and defined contribution plans; capitalization bonds; and redeemable life insurance plans, as well as engages in treasury activities, including derivative transactions. As of December 31, 2012, the company operated a network of 4,686 branches; 34,859 ATMs; 12,975 shared ATMs under the Banco24Horas brand; and 5,237 special points of banking services located on the premises of corporate customers. It also operates 3 branches and 10 subsidiaries in New York, London, the Cayman Islands, Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, and Mexico. The company was formerly known as Banco Brasileiro de Descontos S.A. and changed its name to Banco Bradesco S.A. in 1988.
