It also acquires, transports, distributes, and sells natural gas; engages in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas; provides signal transportation and access services for point-to-point and point-to-multipoint applications, primarily to telecommunications operators and Internet service providers on a clear channel basis; offers services related to the sale and trading of electricity in the Brazilian electricity sector; engages in the implementation and management of systems for electricity sector companies; and engages in the national and international consulting business that provides energy solutions to governments and public utility companies in the electricity industry. The company was founded in 1952 and is headquartered in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.
