Its long rolled products include rebars, merchant bars, and profiles, which are primarily used in the construction and manufacturing industries; and drawn products comprise barbed and barbless fence wires, galvanized wires, fences, concrete reinforcing wire mesh, nails, and clamps for manufacturing, construction, and agricultural industries. The company also offers special and stainless steel products used in tools and machinery, chains, fasteners, railroad spikes, and special coil steel, as well as special sections, such as grader blades, smelter bars, light rails, super light I-beams, elevator guide rails, and other products. In addition, it provides flat products, such as hot and cold steel coils, heavy plates, and profiles; and resells flat steel products manufactured by other Brazilian steel producers. The company was founded in 1901 and is based in Porto Alegre, Brazil. Gerdau S.A. is a subsidiary of Metalúrgica Gerdau S.A.
