This segment also owns and operates ilmenite mines in Norway; and provides iron-based chemicals, titanium oxychloride, and titanyl sulfate. Its Component Products segment offers mechanical and electronic cabinet locks and other locking mechanisms for a range of applications, such as ignition systems, mailboxes, file cabinets, desk drawers, tool storage cabinets, vending and gaming machines, high security medical cabinetry, electrical circuit panels, storage compartments, and gas station security. This segment also provides marine components, such as stainless steel exhaust headers, exhaust pipes, mufflers, other exhaust components, GPS speedometers and tachometers, mechanical and electronic controls and throttles, steering wheels and other billet aluminum accessories, dash panels, LED lighting, wire harnesses, and other accessories for performance and ski/wakeboard boats. The company's Waste Management segment processes, treats, stores, and disposes radioactive, hazardous, toxic, and other wastes. It serves industrial companies consisting of nuclear utilities, chemical, aerospace, and electronics businesses, as well as governmental agencies. The company also provides insurance brokerage and risk management, and utility services; holds marketable securities and other investments; and develops land holdings for commercial, industrial, and residential purposes, as well as owns properties. It operates in the United States, Canada, Germany, Norway, and Belgium. Valhi, Inc. was founded in 1932 and is based in Dallas, Texas.
