In addition, this segment participates in the involuntary or shared private passenger auto insurance business. The company's Allstate Financial segment offers traditional and variable life insurance; retirement and investment; voluntary accident and health insurance products; deferred and immediate fixed annuities; and funding agreements backing medium-term notes. This segment markets its products through its agencies and financial specialists, independent agents and independent master brokerage agencies, and specialized structured settlement brokers, as well as directly through call centers and the Internet. The company was founded in 1931 and is based in Northbrook, Illinois.
