As of December 31, 2017, the company had a container fleet of 93 vessels with total operating capacity of 662,000 TEU; 4 bulk cargo vessels of 64,000 DWT each; 70 bulk cargo vessels, LNG vessels, and heavy crane vessels; and an inventory of containers of approximately 3.66 million TEU. It has operations in Hong Kong, Mainland China, Asia, the United States, Europe, and internationally. The company was formerly known as China Shipping Container Lines Company Limited and changed its name to COSCO SHIPPING Development Co., Ltd. in December 2016. COSCO SHIPPING Development Co., Ltd. was founded in 1997 and is based in Shanghai, the People's Republic of China.
