Description: Edp Energias De Portugal SA is a Portugal-based company engaged in the electric utilities and gas sector. The Company is involved in the generation, distribution and sale of electrical energy, as well as in the natural gas distribution. The Company divides its operations into five business segments: Regulated Energy Networks Iberia, Long-Term Contracted Generation Iberia, Wind Power, Brazil and Liberalized Activities Iberia. It provides electric power generated by hydroelectric plants, wind turbines, thermoelectric power stations and nuclear power plants. As of December 31, 2011, the Company and its subsidiaries were present in a number of countries, including Portugal, Spain, Brazil, France, Poland, Romania, Belgium and the United States, among others. In February 2013, the Company sold a 90% stake in Naturgas Energia Transporte, which is engaged in the gas transportation.
