Description: The St. Joe Company, together with its subsidiaries, operates as a real estate development company in Florida. The company operates in five segments: Residential Real Estate; Commercial Real Estate; Resorts, Leisure, and Leasing Operations; Forestry; and Rural Land. The Residential Real Estate segment plans and develops mixed-use resort, and primary and seasonal residential communities. It primarily sells developed homesites and parcels of entitled undeveloped lots. The Commercial Real Estate segment plans, develops, manages, and sells its land holdings for retail, office, hotel, industrial, and multi-family uses. This segment also offers land for commercial and light industrial uses within large and small-scale commerce parks, and multi-family rental projects; and develops commercial parcels within or near existing residential development projects, as well as provides development opportunities for national and regional retailers, and strategic partners. The Resorts, Leisure, and Leasing Operations segment owns and operates the WaterColor Inn, vacation rentals, golf courses, and marinas, as well as leases retail and commercial properties. The Forestry segment grows, harvests, and sells sawtimber, wood fiber, and forest products; and provides land management services for conservation properties. The Rural Land Sales segment markets and sells tracts of land for rural recreational, conservation, and timberland uses. As of February 28, 2013, the company owned approximately 567,000 acres of land primarily in northwest Florida. It has a strategic alliance with Southwest Airlines Co. to facilitate the commencement of low-fare air service to the northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. The St. Joe Company was founded in 1936 and is headquartered in WaterSound, Florida.
