Its Scotts LawnService segment provides residential and commercial lawn care, tree and shrub care, and limited pest control services through the periodic applications of fertilizer and control products. As of September 30, 2012, this segment had 84 company-operated locations; and 90 independent franchisees operated locations. The company sells its consumer products primarily to home centers, mass merchandisers, warehouse clubs, large hardware chains, independent hardware stores, nurseries, garden centers, and food and drug stores through a direct sales force, as well as through its network of brokers and distributors worldwide. The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company was founded in 1868 and is headquartered in Marysville, Ohio.
